Abstract

Mental health is a very important issue, whose impact on students’ learning, achievement and daily routines especially has been recognized by educational professionals.  This study aims to assess the current state of mental health among Hue University students. 515 students from Hue University of Education, Hue University voluntarily took part in the survey.  The mental health status of respondents was measured using The Life Satisfaction Scale and the Depression, Anxiety, and Stress Scale (DASS-21). Research results show that the percentage of students with signs of stress, anxiety, and depression is 51.84%, 81.55% and 57.09%. respectively. In which, students with severe to very severe signs of stress account for 7.96%; of anxiety 35.92% and of depression 8.55%. The results show that although the mean values ​​of depression, anxiety, and stress of female students are higher than that of male students, no significant gender differences are found in all three types of disorders. A significant number of of respondents (≈29%) appear to be dissatisfied with their lives. There are  no differences in the level of satisfaction with life between male and female students and between students from urban and rural areas. Some implications, limitations of the study are also discussed and recommendation are made for future research.

Tóm tắt

Sức khoẻ tâm thần là một vấn đề rất quan trọng; các chuyên gia giáo dục công nhận rằng sức khoẻ tâm thần có tác động đặc biệt đến học tập, thành tích và thói quen hằng ngày của sinh viên. Nghiên cứu này nhằm đánh giá tình trạng sức khoẻ tâm thần của sinh viên Đại học Huế. 515 sinh viên Đại học Huế đã tình nguyện tham gia vào khảo sát. Tình trạng sức khoẻ tâm thần của khách thể được đo lường bởi Thang đo Hài lòng với cuộc sống và Thang đo Trầm cảm, Lo âu, Căng thẳng (DASS-21). Kết quả nghiên cứu cho thấy tỉ lệ sinh viên có các dấu hiệu của căng thẳng, lo âu và trầm cảm tương ứng là 51,84%; 81,55% và 57,09%. Trong đó, tỉ lệ sinh viên có dấu hiệu từ nặng đến rất nặng đối với rối loạn căng thẳng là 7,96%; rối loạn lo âu là 35,92% và trầm cảm là 8,55%. Kết quả cho thấy mặc dù kết quả giá trị trung bình của trầm cảm, lo âu và căng thẳng của sinh viên nữ cao hơn so với sinh viên nam nhưng lại không có sự khác biệt có ý nghĩa thống kê giữa hai giới ở cả ba dạng rối loạn. Một tỷ lệ đáng kể sinh viên khuynh hướng không hài lòng với cuộc sống (≈29%). Không có sự khác biệt giữa mức độ hài lòng với cuộc sống giữa sinh viên nam và nữ, giữa sinh viên xuất thân từ thành thị và nông thôn. Một số hạn chế của nghiên cứu đã được bàn luận cũng như các hướng nghiên cứu tiếp theo trong tương lai.
