Abstract

PDF (Tiếng Việt)
This study assesses the current state of chemistry perception development among high school students in Thua Thien Hue and Quang Tri provinces, Vietnam, focusing on the application of the 5E instructional model as a solution to enhance their chemistry perception abilities. Through a survey of 376 students and 25 teachers from six high schools, the study reveals limitations in the development of students' chemistry perception, primarily due to certain teaching methods lacking interactivity and real-world connections. The findings indicate that students show limited interest in chemistry, perceiving it as predominantly theoretical and lacking practical relevance. This study proposes integrating the 5E instructional model – comprising Engagement, Exploration, Explanation, Elaboration, and Evaluation phases – with active learning methods to address these limitations. This model aims to promote deeper cognitive engagement among students and align with the objectives of the General Education Curriculum for Chemistry. By enhancing teacher training, resources, and interactive learning opportunities, this approach is expected to improve the development of chemistry perception abilities and meet the standards of modern education.
